DLN roundup: Conestoga girls’ lacrosse team reaches two milestones in victory
The Conestoga High School girls lacrosse team reached two milestones in its 10-5 win against St. Ignatius Prep Monday. Conestoga head coach Amy Orcutt earned her 300th career coaching win and the Pioneers’ Lu Misener won her 100th career draw control.
Leaders for the Pioneers (8-2) included Carolyn Jones (hat trick), Misener (eight draw controls, two goals), Brooke Bickel (two goals) and Price Orcutt (two goals).
Boys’ Lacrosse
West Chester Henderson 9, Oxford 2 >> Standouts for the Warriors included Nick Emmons (three goals), Zach Abrahams (two goals, two assists) and Ryan Turse (two goals). Blake Beale recorded five saves for Henderson.
Bishop Shanahan 12, West Chester East 3 >> The Eagles were led by Christian Touey (two goals, three assists), Mack Manley (four goals, four assists) and Kieran Bonass (four caused turnovers, six ground balls).
Softball
West Chester Rustin 5, Coatesville 3 >> Winning pitcher Ashley Falcone allowed only one earned run in seven innings, while the Golden Knights’ attack was led by Liv Shuffler (2-for-3, three RBIs), Sarah Wood (2-for-3, two runs scored) and Jenna Kraft (home run). For the Red Raiders, pitcher Gracelyn Landis struck out 14 batters and contributed two hits, including a double.
Downingtown West 12, Great Valley 0 >> Whippet pitchers Addison Carter and Julea Regan held the Patriots to just two hits. Casey McWilliams had three RBIs, and Karly Swanson, Olivia Gardner and Kiri Weidner each scored two runs for Downingtown West.
College
Men’s Lacrosse
Mighty Macs honored >> The Atlantic East Conference announced their weekly men’s lacrosse awards on Monday afternoon and two Immaculata men’s lacrosse players earned weekly honors. David Azzarano was named Atlantic East Conference Player of the Week, and Aidan Lawrence was named to the Atlantic East Conference Weekly Honor Roll. Azzarano led Immaculata to a pair of Atlantic East Conference wins this past week with a combined nine goals and three assists for 12 points over two games. Lawrence had a combined 10 ground balls and three caused turnovers, helping to lead Immaculata to a pair of Atlantic East Conference wins.
Women’s Lacrosse
Immaculata players feted >> The Atlantic East Conference announced their weekly women’s lacrosse awards on Monday afternoon and two Immaculata women’s lacrosse players, Jacki Murray and Addison Yackel, were named to the Atlantic East Conference Weekly Honor Roll. Murray, a Villa Maria Academy alum, scored a combined six goals, with two assists for eight points, four ground balls, two caused turnovers, and nine draw controls and broke the Immaculata career record for draw controls with her 310th career draw control. Yackel continued her strong freshman campaign with a combined ten ground balls, two caused turnovers, and nine draw controls over two games.
