DLN roundup: Coatesville softball squad defeats Unionville

The Coatesville High School softball team defeated Unionville, 4-2, Wednesday. Taylor Sherry went 3-for-4 with two doubles and two runs scored to lead the Red Raiders offense. Liv Wilkins added three hits and Danielle Sweigart had two hits for Coatesville, and Gracelyn Landis struck out nine to earn the win in the circle. Addison Smith had two hits and scored a run for Unionville.

Girls’ Lacrosse

Bishop Shanahan 10, West Rustin 3 >> In this Tuesday contest, Stella D’Ambro, Elise Pezone, Fiona Duncheskie and Charley Melconian each scored two goals for the Eagles. D’Ambro won four draw controls, Carly Cunningham caused four opponent turnovers and goalie Juliana O’Brien had nine saves. For Rustin, Lauren McClain, Izzie Mintz and Caitlyn McLaughlin each scored one goal, and Marley Seaman caused four opponent turnovers.

Boys’ Lacrosse

West Chester Henderson 5, Great Valley 4 >> In this Tuesday contest, the Warriors got two goals apiece from Zach Abrahams and Ryan Turse. Sam Killoran caused two opponent turnovers, and Turse collected three ground balls and caused three opponent turnovers. Goalie Blake Beale recorded six saves.

Boys’ Volleyball

Downingtown West 3, Bishop Shanahan 1 >> The Whippets celebrated Senior Night with a victory Tuesday, posting scores of 19–25,  25–19, 25–21 and 25–17. West was led by co-captain Brian O’Hara (18 kills, three aces, eight digs), Cody Bice (11 kills), Foster Weldon (five kills, two blocks), co-captain Colin Ameye (three kills, two blocks), co-captain Will Vaughn (25 assists, two aces, seven digs), Jeremy Christian (15 assists) and Tyler Hein (six digs).
