Pa. state park in Bucks County remains closed as search continues for missing ranger whose kayak capsized
Tyler State Park in Bucks County will remain closed Sunday as the search continues for a missing 38-year-old ranger whose kayak capsized on the Neshaminy Creek on Friday afternoon.
The search for the missing Department of Conservation and Nature Resources ranger continued Saturday, but turned up no sign of the unidentified missing man from Delaware County.
Numerous area fire rescue and marine rescue personnel involved in the search. Many were seen entering the park Saturday, while barricades turned away weekend visitors. An official at the scene Saturday morning said the Neshaminy’s water level had dropped to low.
The Neshaminy Creek, placid in calm weather, turns treacherous after heavy rains, such as those that fell on Bucks County this week.
Pennsylvania State Police, who are leading the investigation have released little information about the circumstances surrounding the accident.
A preliminary investigation has determined the man was in the kayak when it tipped over shortly after noon on May 23. It’s was not immediately clear why the ranger was in the kayak and alone, a source at the scene said.
