Montgomery County detectives investigating Marlborough incident that led to chase and Bucks standoff
MARLBOROUGH TOWNSHIP — A shots-fired incident Wednesday afternoon led to a police chase through Upper Montgomery County and into Bucks, where a standoff with SWAT officers lasted several hours before the subject surrendered peacefully, police reported. There were no injuries.
Marlborough Police Chief Darren Morgan said a male subject was taken in custody at 2:24 p.m. following a standoff of more than two hours around Ridge Road in West Rockhill Township, Bucks County.
According to police, the incident began at 11:57 a.m. with multiple 911 calls of shots fired involving a man in a black Mustang. Additional 911 calls reported the male threatened a bicyclist and shot into nearby woods. Marlborough Police responded to 1600 Swamp Creek Road and pulled behind the vehicle as the subject fled in his vehicle and shot multiple rounds at the responding officer during a seven-minute pursuit. The officer and vehicle were not hit, police said.

The pursuit ended shortly after noon at Ridge Road in West Rockhill in Bucks County. Police said a standoff ensued, with the subject firing multiple weapons. Two SWAT units responded, as well as multiple police departments from Montgomery and Bucks counties. At 2:24 p.m., the subject surrendered to police and was taken into custody without incident, police said.
The Montgomery County Detective Bureau is assisting Marlborough Police with the investigation. The subject is in police custody and formal charges will be filed, the Montgomery County district atorney’s office said in a press release.
