Baseball: Chester County team gets off to strong start at Carpenter Cup
The Chester County team got off to a strong start in the Carpenter Cup on Monday with a 7-2 victory over Lehigh Valley at Richie Ashburn Field in Philadelphia.
David McClain (Rustin) was 2-for-3 with two RBI and Anthony DiAddezio (Pope John Paul II) was 1-for-3 with an RBI to propel the Chesco lineup. Tommy Kratz (Methacton) reached base twice (double, walk) and Aidan Autovino (Perkiomen Valley) had an RBI.
Chester, which is composed of players from the PAC and Ches-Mont, got three scoreless innings from Landon Rozich (Oxford) and Justin Fryer (Norristown). Fryer struck out five. Will Christian (Methacton) was touched for two runs in one inning before Andrew Wible (Spring-Ford) and Lucas Campbell (Owen J. Roberts) kept LV off the board in an inning each.
Chester County returns to action on Thursday when it will face Jersey Shore at 10:30 at Richie Ashburn Field in FDR Park. The winners Thursday advance to the semifinals, which will be played Monday, June 24 at Citizens Bank Park.
The championship game is set for Tuesday, June 25, 9:30 a.m. at Citizens Bank Park.
