Coroner called, road closed after motorcycle accident in southern Berks [Map]

Berks County coroners were called to the scene of a motorcycle accident Thursday afternoon at Black Matt Road and West Schuylkill Road in Union Township.

Emergency crews rushed to the scene about 4:40 p.m. for reports of an accident with entrapment involving a vehicle and a motorcycle.

CPR was attempted on the rider of the motorcycle, and a rescue engine was requested to assist with freeing an injured person trapped in the vehicle.

The patient was reportedly removed from the vehicle about 5 p.m., and coroners were called shortly after.

Route 724, which is West Schuylkill Road, was closed between River Bridge Road and Magnolia Drive in Union Township, and Black Matt Road was closed between Route 724 and Sovereign Drive, according to emergency reports.
