Man rescued from collapsed concrete tank in eastern Berks
A man was rescued from a collapsed concrete tank after the tank collapsed Wednesday afternoon in Washington Township. The incident in the 300 block of Crow Hill Road drew a response from rescue teams and fire crews as well as emergency medical personnel from Montgomery County, according to emergency reports.
The 38-year-old man was trapped inside the empty tank about 30 feet down. He was semi-conscious and injured when crews arrived at the scene shortly before 3 p.m.
Rescuers used a ladder to reach the patient and used a specialized basket and rigging system to get him out of the tank, reports said. Emergency personnel took him for medical treatment.
Crow Hill was closed between Sycamore Road and Bella Vista Lane while the operation proceeded.
Further information was unavailable Wednesday evening.
