Thousands braved the chill late Wednesday night, Dec. 31, into early Thursday morning on Jan. 1 to enjoy the festivities in downtown Kennett Square, with the main attraction the annual mushroom drop to ring in 2026.

Kennett Square and the vicinity call themselves the Mushroom Capital of the World.
