Big 5 Men’s Basketball: Acaden Lewis scores 20 as Villanova tops Marquette

MILWAUKEE — Acaden Lewis had 20 points in Villanova’s 76-73 victory over Marquette on Saturday.

Lewis also had eight assists for the Wildcats (13-3, 4-1 Big East). Matthew Hodge scored 14 points and added five rebounds. Devin Askew had 13 points, and Duke Brennan added 12 points.

Nigel James Jr. led the Golden Eagles (6-11, 1-5), finishing with 31 points, six assists and three steals. Royce Parham added 17 points for Marquette. Chase Ross finished with eight points, four assists and four steals.

Hodge put up 12 points in the first half for Villanova, which led 44-38 at halftime. Perkins scored with 11 seconds left for the final margin with Ross missing a long 3-point try at the buzzer.

Drexel 64, William & Mary 58 >> Shane Blakeney and Kevon Vanderhorst scored 13 points each as Drexel picked up a home win.

Blakeney also contributed six rebounds and five assists for the Dragons (8-10, 2-3 CAA). Vanderhorst was 6 of 12 from the field. Josh Reed went 4 of 8 from the field to finish with 11 points.

Tunde Vahlberg Fasasi led the way for the Tribe (11-6, 2-3) with 10 points, six rebounds and two steals.

Drexel went into the half leading, 37-28. Drexel used a 7-0 run in the second half to build an 11-point lead with 11:27 left.

Penn 81, Brown 73 >> Ethan Roberts scored 28 points to lead Penn to a win at the Palestra.

Roberts added five assists for the Quakers (8-7, 1-1 Ivy). Michael Zanoni scored 20 points.

The Bears (6-9, 0-2) were led by N’famara Dabo, who finished with 17 points and seven rebounds. Brown also got 15 points and six assists from Jeremiah Jenkins.

Saint Louis 84, La Salle 72 >> Robbie Avila had 18 points and six rebounds to lead the Billikens.

Brady Dunlap shot 6 for 9, including 4 for 7 from beyond the arc, to add 17 points for the Billikens (15-1, 3-0 Atlantic 10). Amari McCottry finished with 13 points as Saint Louis picked up its ninth straight victory.

The Explorers (5-12, 1-3) were led in scoring by Josiah Harris, who finished with 19 points and eight rebounds. Jerome Brewer Jr. added 15 points. Jaden Johnson also put up 10 points, six assists and three steals.
