Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health opens Devereux Day Academy – Audubon

Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health Pennsylvania has opened a new approved private school in Lower Providence Township — the Devereux Day Academy – Audubon. The new school offers special education programming for students in grades 1 through 12 with emotional, behavioral and cognitive differences that require a higher level of care than may be provided in their local schools.

The Sept. 5 opening of  Devereux Day Academy – Audubon, 2650 Eisenhower Ave., brings to six the total number of Devereux’s approved private schools in southeast Pennsylvania, according to Jacalyn Auris, Devereux vice president of Educational Services.

“Our new school will provide much-needed educational services for students in the greater Norristown area. A focus of this school will be developing strong partnerships with local school districts so students can enjoy an integrated school experience and participate in home district programming and activities,” Auris said in a statement.

A total of 32 students can be accommodated at the academy, which features four classrooms holding eight students per classroom, according to a press release. The school’s core curriculum is aligned with the Pennsylvania Core Standards, as well as the curricula of Devereux Pennsylvania Children’s Services’ partner school districts.

“The alignment will facilitate smooth transitions for students to and from the day program, and their local schools,” the release stated.

Referrals for the new day academy are being accepted from area school district. Those districts liking to send a referral to the Devereux Day Academy – Audubon, or any of Devereux Pennsylvania Children’s Services’ Approved Private Schools should email PAEducationReferrals@devereux.org.

In that email, districts should include: the student’s name, date of birth and grade level; documents for the admissions team to review, including the most recent IEP, ER/RR; preferred program — Devereux Day Academy – Audubon, Devereux Day Academy – Landenberg, The Brandywine School, The Mapleton School, The Devereux School for Integrated Learning or The CARES School; any additional educational records or information deemed relevant to the referral, including psychiatric evaluation, attendance records, discipline records, etc.
