Election 2023: Democrats win 15 of 19 open seats in Montgomery County local races

There were nine contested races for township and borough governing bodies in Montgomery County on election day. Democrats won all but two of them.

All results shown here are unofficial until verified by the Montgomery County Elections Office.

Here is a roundup of election results.

Collegeville

The three incumbent Democrats won reelection to the three open seats with four-year terms on Collegeville Borough Council Tuesday.

The Democrats’ vote totals were: Kathy Costello 913; Craig Farr 876; Valarie Beckius 867.

Republican vote totals were: Dan Young 610; John Zvarick 635; John Strasinski 597.

Democrat Damien Brewster was the only candidate for the seat with two years remaining on the term. He won 1,076 votes.

Franconia

Two Democrats failed to oust two incumbent Republicans for seats on the Franconia Board of Supervisors Tuesday.

Incumbent Supervisors Chairman Grey Godshall won 2,708 votes and incumbent Charles Amuso won 2,581.

Democrats C. Scott Bishop won 1,834 votes and Kristopher Martin Jr. won 1,353 votes.

Limerick

Incumbent Democrat Patrick M. Morroney held onto his seat Tuesday, winning another six-year term on the five-member board of supervisors. He won 3,235  votes. His Republican opponent, Christopher J. Haring won 2,880 votes.

Lower Frederick

Democrats won the two open seats on the board of supervisors here Tuesday. Noelle Halter won 884 votes and incumbent Supervisors Chair Marla J. Hexter won 839 votes. Republican challenger Katie Lewis won 794 votes and her running mate Rob Wisler won 756.

Lower Providence

Democrats took the two seats on the five-member board of supervisors in Tuesday’s election.

Sarah A Charles won 4,460 votes and incumbent Gary Neights won 4,300 votes. Republican Rebecca Catagnus took 3,167 votes and Beth Ann Bittner Mazza won 3,376 votes.

Perkiomen

Incumbent Democrat Gary Filzen held onto his seat on the five-member board of supervisors Tuesday. He won 1,550 votes and Republican challenger Stephen Dankanich won 1,142 votes.

Skippack

One Republican incumbent was ousted and one retained his seat in Tuesday’s election for the two open seats on the five-member board of supervisors that have four-year terms. Another Democrat won the contest for the seat with two years left on its term

Republican Nick Fountain won 2,006 votes to keep his seat. But Franco D’Angelo took only 1,990 votes, not enough to keep Democratic challenger Marian Ellis, the top vote-getter who took 2,134 votes, from winning the second seat.

The fourth candidate, Democrat Justin Glennon, won 1,973 votes.

In the race for the seat with a two-year term, Democrat Karen Lynch won 2,226 votes while Republican Roberta Bracken won 1,996 votes.

Upper Frederick

Democrats took the two open seats on the three-member board of supervisors in Tuesday’s election.

Lisa Fischer won 593 votes over Republican Chap Fichera, who won 505 votes for the seat with a six-year term.

And William Landman took 588 votes, ousting Republican incumbent Thomas Trojansky, who won 510 votes.

Upper Providence

There were no incumbents in the race for two seats on the five-member board of supervisors and Democrats easily won them both.

Kelly Stevens won 3,924 votes and A. Maria Jones Sadler took 3,653 votes. Republican Michael J. Krasley trailed with 2,618 and running mate Kevin Middaugh won even fewer with 2,541 votes.

Worcester

Incumbent Republican Rick DeLello held onto his seat with the three-member board of supervisors Tuesday,

DeLello won 1,992 votes and his Democratic challenger Christine Steere won 1,836
