LETTER: Perkiomen Valley School Board president says article misrepresents candidate funding source
Yet another last-minute hit piece by reporter Evan Brandt. This has gone on in our community for years.
Over the past two years as President of the Perkiomen Valley School Board, I have become accustomed to shoddy journalism from misquotes to half-baked “got ya” questions — but this article (“Perkiomen Valley School Board candidate statements at odds with financial report“) jumps the shark.
My role as the Political Action Committee (PAC) President was to raise money for 5 candidates that the PAC supported. This would leave them (the 5 members) to spend time knocking on doors and outreach to local voters and not have to worry about how we could afford yard signs, door knockers and mailers.
For nearly a year, we have been accused of taking money from organizations that never gave us any money.
Now, this article comes out because the candidates stated they only took money from the V5 PAC and no one else. Evan knew this but it was part of his plan to help the other side win.

As quickly as the article went live, the other team was ready for a mass text message to our community.
It is not enough to call us “bigots, racists and extremists.” Now, they claim “liars.”
When I asked Evan if he looked into where the money comes from on the other side — where did the money from Joe Webster come from or others — no answer was given.
They claim they only take money from people “that align with our values and ethics and goals for governance.” Did Evan look into the fact that means people who have attempted to have local businesses that support our special needs community closed? Or people who doxx people. Are these the values that we want?
As we look at our country since Oct 7th, we see images that many of us don’t recognize. Some, like myself, saw this happening years ago.
The farce of “microaggressions,” the fraud of “diversity and inclusion,” the bloodthirst of “decolonization.” All of this has been revealed for what it is — a mask for resentment, incompetence, and violence.
This has now come full swing to the school board. Tossing of words with no backing of information to frame your opponent as … “racist,” “bigot” and “liar” … and sadly, the paper just hits print.
Jason Saylor is president of the Perkiomen Valley School Board.
