Mast Roofing continues to accept nominations for roof giveaway program

Homeownership can get expensive — especially when it comes to maintenance like replacing a roof. For those experiencing financial difficulties, the task may be overwhelming.

That’s why Oley-based Mast Roofing & Construction Inc. is once again accepting nominations for its annual roof giveaway program. This is the 12th year for Project Peace of Mind, which will provide a brand-new roofing system to a local family in need.

The company is accepting nominations online through Saturday, June 15.

Originally, the company participated in a national program called No Roof Left Behind. When that ended, Mast Roofing implemented its own program in 2022.

Corrie Mast, coordinator of Project Peace of Mind for Mast Roofing & Construction, previously told MediaNews Group that when the national program ceased operations, Mast Roofing didn’t want the initiative to end, so the company developed something new.

The company called the program Project Peace of Mind because it relieves a local family of the stress of worrying about the condition of their roof — giving them peace of mind, according to a press release.

Who is eligible?

Nominees must own the home and be current on their mortgage and taxes. Individuals cannot nominate themselves.

The online nomination form asks for information about the nominee and the person submitting the nomination. It also asks about the condition of the roof — including its age, whether the roof leaks, the current roof material, the style of the house and a description of the roof.

The nomination form also asks why the person is a good candidate for the project — whether they are experiencing financial hardships or had an unexpected situation arise.

Once the nomination period closes on June 15, the staff at Mast will review the nominees and choose the recipient. The roof recipient will be revealed online in July, and the installation will be scheduled.

The company said the installations have been a success over the past 11 years.

“Our entire team enjoys coming together to encourage a local family while meeting a very practical need,” the release stated.
