McCloskey contributes $100K to his own campaign for Pa. Legislature
Republican candidate Mike McCloskey has kicked off his campaign for the 146th state House district by investing $100,000 of his personal funds into his campaign.
In a press release, McCloskey said his contribution underscores his “dedication to putting the needs of the community first and highlights my commitment to running a campaign focused on integrity, accountability, and genuine service.”
In the release, his campaign indicated “Mike wants his supporters and contributors to know that he’s all in on this race, and he hopes his personal commitment will serve as a match to the donations of any of his supporters who choose to contribute to his campaign.”
It’s no secret that campaigns like this take extraordinary resources and routinely extend upwards of $500,000 or more, but unlike many career politicians who rely heavily on special interest funding, McCloskey said his decision to invest in his campaign reflects his belief in the importance of grassroots support and his desire to remain independent from outside influences.
In announcing his investment, McCloskey stated, “I believe in investing in our community, and that starts with investing in my own campaign. I am running for State Representative to be a voice for the people, not to become a career politician or to profit at the expense of taxpayers. By self-financing my campaign, I am reaffirming my commitment to transparency, accountability, and serving the best interests of our community.”
This does not mean that he is not accepting outside contributions.
“I will continue to accept donations from supporters and sincerely appreciate the support we’ve gotten thus far. Contributions, no matter the size, play a vital role in fueling our grassroots-driven campaign and ensuring that our message reaches every corner of the district,” he wrote in response to a MediaNews Group query. “This campaign is about all of us, and I hope that my personal investment will serve as a match to inspire other donors to join our campaign.”
From strengthening public safety and supporting emergency services to providing tax relief for seniors and promoting economic growth, McCloskey’s platform prioritizes the needs of the people over partisan politics, the press release said.
McCloskey will face incumbent Democrat Joe Ciresi in the November election for the 146th House District seat, which includes West Pottsgrove, Pottstown, Lower Pottsgrove, Limerick and Royersford.
