Mercury Roundup (April 25): Tindall’s 12 strikeouts leads PJP baseball to 5-3 win over Owen J. Roberts

Pope John Paul II 5, Owen J. Roberts 3

Tyler Tindall struck out 12 batters in a complete game win as PJP scored five runs in the third before holding off OJR’s final push. Luke Terlesky had a double and two RBI for the Golden Panthers (9-2, 8-2 PAC), while Blaise Desanto chipped in an RBI triple. AJ Diaddezio and Hunter Mischok plated additional runs in the win.

Nick Remo homered for the Wildcats (5-9, 4-7) and Sam Taylor triples, scored two runs and stole a base in the defeat. Owen Waltimyer pitched 4.1 strong innings of relief, allowing two hits and three walks while punching out nine.

Perkiomen Valley 11, Norristown 3

Aidan Autovino, Mike Strechay and Andrew Keenan combined for seven hits, seven RBI  and six runs scored from the top three spots in the PV lineup to help the Vikings score a dominant PAC crossover win on Friday. Jon Boyd added two hits and two RBI for Perk Valley (11-4, 9-2 PAC) and Liam McNeill pitched two scoreless innings for the win while also stealing two bases.

Chase Logan, Brett Murphy and Jackson Tatum all contributed RBI hits for the Eagles (3-11, 1-9).

Hill School 12, Kiski School 2

Jonathan Moore went 4-for-4 with three runs scored and Chase McCusker, Daniel Palmieri, Charlie Winston and Grif Boyer all knocked in a pair of runs in Hill’s sixth straight win. Boyer drew the start on the mound and picked up the win with four innings of one-run ball. He allowed three hits, one run and three walks while striking out two for the Rams (8-2).

Perkiomen School 2, John Carroll (MD) 1

Ryan Sink tossed a complete game to kick off Perkiomen’s weekend trip to Maryland, allowing six hits and an unearned run to go with three walks and four K’s. Cole Tucholski had an RBI and scored a run for the Panthers (6-3), who also received a two-hit effort courtesy of Avery Smith.

Softball

Norristown 19, Pottstown 6

Alana Echevarria was 5-for-5 with four RBI and four runs scored to lead the torrid Norristown bats past Pottstown in a Friday PAC Frontier battle. Aniyah Bates (4-for-6, 3R, 3RBI, SB) and Kira Beatty (3-for-6, 2R, 3RBI) also had big days at the plate to back Echevarria, who struck out nine in a complete game win for the Eagles (5-7, 3-3 Frontier).

Angelina Quiles was 2-for-3 with two RBI and Julia Draucker chipped in three hits and three runs scored for Pottstown (0-11, 0-6).

Boys Lacrosse

Boyertown 10, Wissahickon 9 (OT)

Boyertown rallied from a three-goal halftime deficit to knock off host Wissahickon in overtime. The Bears improved to 7-9 overall with the non-league triumph.

Perkiomen School 10, Shady Side Academy (PA) 9

Girls Lacrosse

Perkiomen Valley 10, Boyertown 9

Julia Foley scored six times and Holli Nuss added three goals of her own to help Perk Valley edge Boyertown in an exciting PAC Liberty battle. Alexis Keysock chipped in a goal and two assists for PV (7-9, 3-5 Liberty), which also received eight saves courtesy of Charlotte Foster.

Boyertown fell to 6-8 and 3-4 with the loss.

Upper Merion 14, Norristown 1

Maura Besz, Gabby Callison, Mackenzie Davis, Courtney Lamey, Rya Devers and Sydney Reed all scored twice to lead Upper Merion past Norristown in a PAC Frontier matchup. Elisa Dougherty posted six assists for UM (10-4, 8-0 Frontier), and Jess Reinhardt and Peyton Becker rounded out the scoring.

Norristown dropped to 4-11 overall and 1-6 against Frontier competition.

Upper Darby Invitational (Upper Darby HS)

The Upper Merion girls competed in the Upper Darby Invitational on Friday afternoon, with Rebecca O’Neil’s victorious showing on the pole vault (9 feet, 6 inches) serving as the day’s high point. Kyla Riley (16.96 seconds) and Milli Sirivolu (18.27) placed fourth and ninth, respectively, in the 100-meter hurdles. The UM 4×100 relay team also secured a top 10 finish, finishing seventh with a time of 1:00.24.
