Pottsgrove 48 Pope John Paul II 46

Gabe Rinda scored eight of his game-high 13 points in the fourth quarter, including a pair of free throws with 6.9 seconds remaining, and Pottsgrove rallied to edge Pope John Paul II in both team’s PAC Frontier season debut Friday.

Nadhir Ward and Kamal Curry scored 12 and 11 points, respectively, to aid the Falcons’ effort.

Dom Demito led PJP with 12 points.

Jurrell Young hit it big with 33 points and Pottstown shot ahead in the second quarter to take its PAC Frontier opener over Upper Merion Friday. Sadeeq Jackon (19), Abdul Jackson (11) and Dillon Mayes (10) gave the Trojans four players in double digits.

Nick Smiley was top scorer for UM with 16.

Quinn Boettinger (15) and Bella Bacani (13) also reached double figures for PV. Abby Arnold’s 11 points (three 3s) led the Warriors.
