Panther Open (William Tennent HS)

Norristown: The Eagles had the best finish of local PAC teams in the 16-team field, with Nichols Antonio earning a fourth-place finish at 133 pounds. Eddie Baldwin finished fifth at 215 and Christopher Coey was sixth in the heavyweight class. Jaden Rodriguez (145), Garaba Konte (152) and Jorge Liborio all placed seventh. The Eagles accumulated 81.5 team points on the day.

Pottstown: The Trojans finished 13th as a team with 34.5 points. Kareem Lesher (127 pounds) and Caden Nihart (145) each nabbed fifth-place finishes for Pottstown.

Pope John Paul II: The Golden Panthers placed 16th on Saturday, with Noah Kenny pushing opponent Kaden Ragan of Lower Moreland to sudden death at 114 pounds in the seventh-place bout. Ragan closed out with a 6-4 decision.

Interboro Invitational (Interboro HS)

Upper Merion: The Vikings secured a third-place team finish at Interboro on Saturday, scoring 163.5 team points and finishing behind Conwell-Egan and Downingtown East in the eight-team field. Nikito Hansell (127 pounds) and Jowell Jones (152) won their respective weight classes, while Declan Ryan (172), Ali Vasey (189) and Justin Aquilani (215) all made it to the finals before bowing out. Kieran Lamey finished third at 139 and Kevin Shuler was fourth at 114. Kayden Gregor (121), Maxamillious Contreras (133) and Nicholas Schaubhut (160) all finished in fifth place.

Owen J. Roberts: The Wildcats wrestled to a fifth-place team finish, racking up 148.5 points. Decker Bechtold (215) and Alex Brandt (139) captured gold, while Carter Soto was runner-up at 133. Nolan Coryell (107), Gavin Brandt (114), Quinn Carr (121) and Braden Hauseman (172) took home third-place finishes.

Boys Basketball

Fork Union Military Academy (VA) 72, Perkiomen School (National) 69 (Elite Prep League Session V Tournament)

The Panthers clawed back from a big deficit and had a shot to tie the game at the buzzer, but Fork Union Military Academy snared a hard-fought win at the Elite Prep League Session V Tournament on Saturday. KJ Cochran scored a team-high 28 points, while Hayden Johns (14 points) and Gabe Tanner (12 points) also hit double figures in defeat.

Legacy Prep Christian Academy (TX) 105, Hill School 68 (Metro Classic – Franklin, NJ)

Hill scored the first bucket of the second half to cut its deficit to 44-40 on Saturday at the Metro Classic at Franklin (NJ) High before Texas-based Legacy Prep put up a 61-point half and cruised to victory. The Blues (20-6 overall) will now turn their attention to this week’s Mid-Atlantic Prep League Tournament, beginning on Thursday at 5 p.m. against host Lawrenceville.

Boys Indoor Track

PTFCA Indoor Track Carnival (Lehigh University)

Spring-Ford was the lone local boys team to compete at the PTFCA Track Carnival, with several Rams scoring top-10 finishes. Justin Johnson placed second in the 400-meter dash (51.47 seconds) and also placed seventh in the long jump (20’-6.5”). Abe McNelly also scored two top-10 placements, finishing fifth in pole vault (14’) and ninth in high jump (5’-7”). Anthony Brittingham secured seventh place in the 200 dash (23.55), and the 4×800 relay team (third, 8:31.14) and 4×200 squad (ninth, 1:39.24) also put forth strong performances.

Girls Indoor Track

PTFCA Indoor Track Carnival (Lehigh University)

Boyertown: Harper Glennon won the 60 dash in 7.72 seconds while also finishing third in the 200 dash (25.94). Samantha Hemingway was fourth in the high jump (4’-11”), and the Bears’ 4×800 relay squad crossed the finish line in seventh place (10:22.88).

Perkiomen Valley: Jane Fisher registered a fifth-place result in the high jump (4’-11”) and Allison Matasich placed sixth in the 3000-meter run (10:37.04). The PV 4×200 relay group nabbed ninth place with a time of 1:54.83.

Spring-Ford: Nave’ Jacobs (60 dash, 7.98 seconds) and Akaylia Grey (60 hurdles, 9.20 seconds) both finished fourth in their respective events for the highest Spring-Ford individual placements. Madison Johnson finished sixth in the 200 dash (26.62), and the Rams also had two relay teams place inside the top-10: 4×200 (first, 1:48.21) and distance medley relay (ninth, 14:39.44).

Upper Perkiomen: Samantha Pedrick was the lone Upper Perk competitor to partake in Saturday’s event, placing ninth in the pole vault event with a height of 10 feet.

Massanutten Academy (VA) 103, Perkiomen School (National) 91 (Elite Prep League Session V Tournament)

Perkiomen dropped a shootout to Virginia’s Massanutten Academy on Friday, getting a team-high 27 points from KJ Cochran. Gabe Tanner added 17 points for the Panthers (16-7 overall) and Evan Colao chipped in 10 against the No. 12 ranked team in the nation.

Girls Basketball

Perkiomen School 58, Hill School 42

The Perkiomen School girls captured a big victory on Senior Day, with senior Amarilis Shubick leading the way with a team-high 16 points. Fellow seniors Jaycee Merizalde (12 points) and Sam Wade (10 points) also hit double figures for the Panthers, as did junior Mizan Shell (13 points). Perkiomen improved to 8-12 overall, while Hill slipped to 6-19 in defeat.
