by medianews group

State police said a Montgomery County man who was shot in the head on the Pennsylvania Turnpike during an apparent act of road rage last Friday has died, and the suspect was found dead a day after the shooting in Berks County.

The man who was shot, a 40-year-old from Royersford, died Monday at Reading Hospital, according to state police.

The suspect, a 59-year-old man from Dinwiddie, Va., was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound Saturday in the parking lot at a shopping complex on Crossings Boulevard in Caernarvon Township, Berks County, police announced Monday. He was found inside the cab of a white tractor-trailer that police had identified as a vehicle of interest, police said.

State police did not name either man. The motive for the shooting appeared to be a road rage type incident, police said.

The shooting happened Friday around 1:15 p.m. on the turnpike eastbound at mile marker 291.3 in Brecknock Township, Lancaster County, police said.

State police are still asking for any potential witnesses who were traveling on the turnpike between the Lebanon-Lancaster and Reading interchanges from 12:45 p.m. and 1:15 p.m. Friday, to contact state police at Lancaster at 717-299-7650.
