Officer-involved shooting reported in West Chester

WEST CHESTER — An officer-involved shooting was reported Sunday afternoon in the borough, according to the Chester County District Attorney’s Office.

The incident took place at around 2:50 p.m., but authorities are releasing few details.

West Chester Police Department officers responded to a residence in the 50th block of South Church Street. Shots were fired at that location and a suspect was taken into custody at approximately 3:55 p.m., according to the two-paragraph release from the DA’s office.

The name of the suspect was not immediately provided by the DA.

The nearby streets were cleared by police and witnesses at the scene reported on social media that someone was spotted on a roof.

Per county protocol, the incident is under investigation by the Chester County Detectives, according to the DA’s release.

The West Chester Borough Police Department is cooperating with the investigation, the release stated.
