Penn Entertainment’s newly branded ESPN BET online sportsbook is live

Penn Entertainment Inc. announced Wednesday that ESPN BET has been successfully launched in the 17 states where the company offers online sports betting.

The “go live” comes three months after  Wyomissing-based Penn Entertainment Inc. announced its agreement with ESPN Inc., securing the rights to the ESPN BET trademark for online sports betting in the U.S. for an initial 10-year term.

“Our successful launch is the culmination of months of hard work across both teams, and we could not be more excited to roll out ESPN BET in partnership with ESPN,” Jay Snowden, CEO & president, Penn Entertainment, said in a statement. “Penn’s operational excellence paired with ESPN’s unmatched brand and reach is a powerful combination that will drive this compelling new sportsbook.”

ESPN BET is a newly branded online sportsbook from Penn and ESPN and is available on Apple iOS and Android and via web at www.ESPNBET.com.

In addition, Penn’s online casino offering is accessible within ESPN BET via mobile and web under the Hollywood Casino brand in Michigan, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and West Virginia.

The sportsbook operates on the Penn Interactive Gaming Platform, a state-of-the-art, proprietary technology stack built by Penn’s in-house product and engineering teams.

Penn Entertainment entered into the agreement with ESPN Inc. in August — in a transaction valued at $1.5 billion in cash payments to ESPN over the initial 10 years.

Snowden said at the time that the agreement with ESPN provides Penn with access to the largest ecosystem in sports, with more than 105 million monthly unique digital visitors, an audience of more than 370 million across social platforms, 25 million ESPN+ subscribers and the nation’s No. 1 fantasy database.

Penn Entertainment Inc., formerly Penn National Gaming, operates 43 properties in 20 states, online sports betting in 18 jurisdictions and iCasino in five jurisdictions under a portfolio of brands including Hollywood Casino, L’Auberge, ESPN BET and theScore Bet Sportsbook and Casino.
