by bruce adams

The Main Line high school field hockey scene this past fall featured several championship squads such as PIAA 3A state champion Conestoga (Central League champs for fifth consecutive year), Villa Maria Academy (24-2, District 1 3A champion, PIAA 3A state runnerup), Academy of Notre Dame (18-3-1 overall, 10-0 Inter-Ac) and Archbishop Carroll (undefeated in the Catholic League). Other strong Main Line high school field hockey teams included Radnor (17-7), Haverford High (14-6), Agnes Irwin (13-7-1) and Episcopal Academy (14-7).
