Roundup (April 18): Upper Merion boys lacrosse deals Perkiomen Valley its first PAC loss of year

Boys Lacrosse

Upper Merion 9, Perkiomen Valley 8

Justin Besz scored five goals and Upper Merion used a six-goal second half to defeat Perkiomen Valley for its first PAC loss on Thursday.

Goalie Nathan Uhl made 10 saves and had an assist while Keegan Roseland scored twice for UM. Kieran Lamey and Collin McCormick rounded out the Upper Merion (4-1 PAC, 6-4) scoring.

Connor Macklin and Patrick Moloney each had two goals and an assist for PV (4-1, 6-5). Bryce Coletta scored two and Aiden Jacoby had 10 faceoff wins and a goal.

Girls Lacrosse

Boyertown 13, Methacton 3

Peyton Shellaway contributed on seven goals (4G, 3A) to lead Boyertown past Methacton in a PAC Liberty matchup Thursday.

Other multi-goal contributors for the Bears were Hannah Adamski (2G), Alina Friz (2G, 3A). Goalie Teagan Tyson had 11 saves in goal.

Phoenixville 18, Pottsgrove 1

Erin Reedy scored six goals and Ava Siaton, Danielle Eliasson and Amelia St. Hilaire scored two each and Phoenixville cruised past Pottsgrove in PAC play Thursday.

Baseball

Phoenixville 6, Pottsgrove 2

Tommy Whitesel struck out nine in six innings and allowed two runs on four hits while Giovanni Vito doubled and drove in three runs to allow Phoenixville to pull away from Pottsgrove for a PAC Frontier win Thursday.

Kevin Kingsbury was 2-for-4 and pitched a scoreless seventh. Sam Marsh and Ryan Jacobson had RBI hits for the Phantoms (3-4).

For Pottsgrove, Zayd Rogers drove in two runs and Brandon McGinley was 2-for-3 with a double. McGinley took the pitching loss after allowing five earned runs in 4 ⅓ innings.

Boyertown 10, Methacton 4

Boyertown broke out in a seven-run eighth inning and nabbed a PAC Liberty victory over Methacton.

The Bears got a two-run double from Gavin Trainer (3-for-5, 3 RBI) and RBI single from Connor Moyer in the eighth, which featured three Bear hits and four errors.

Logan Barndt was 3-for-5 with two RBI for the Bears (4-2 PAC, 4-5 overall).

The Warriors got two-hit games from Nick Remish and Casey Behan.

Starters Johan Mayer and Austin Frank kept their respective teams in the game. The Bears’ Mayer went 6 ⅔ innings and allowed two earned runs on six hits with six strikeouts. Frank allowed three runs in five innings.

Softball

Boyertown 6, Methacton 4

Starting pitcher Ella Hurter allowed only three hits and one earned run over 6 ⅓ innings and Boyertown held off Methacton for a PAC Liberty win Thursday.

Sam Sobeck homered in a 3-for-3, two-RBI game to lead the Bears lineup. Kyra Neiswender had a double and two RBI.

For Methacton, Sydney Hockenbrock hit a three-run homer in the seventh. Sadie Fitch was strong in relief, going five innings and surrendering only three hits and a run.
