Roundup (April 8): Four-hit days from Winnick, Flavin lead OJR softball to 16-9 win over PJP

SOFTBALL

Owen J. Roberts 16, Pope John Paul II 9

Bella Winnick had four hits, including a solo home run, as Owen J. Roberts raced out to a 10-0 lead and never looked back in a PAC win over PJP. Liza Flavin also had four hits for the Wildcats, contributing two doubles and three RBI from the leadoff spot. Rachel Epps, Amelia Atkins, Gracelyn Przborowski, Sophia Cerimele and Ashlyn Kunkle all had two hits apiece for OJR, while Atkins, Flavin, Jacqui Skonieczny and Katelyn Stofko all plated multiple runs. Kunkle and Przborowski combined to allow two earned runs in the pitching circle, with Kunkle picking up the victory.

Abigaile Millhouse doubled twice for the Golden Panthers, while Lexi DiBricida went 2-for-4 with two RBI in the losing effort.

Conrad Weiser 5, Pottsgrove 3

Lizzie McAllister and Bailey Pysher had two hits each as part of Pottsgrove’s seven-hit offense but it wasn’t enough in a non-league loss to Conrad Weiser.

Abby Frantz got the pitching win for the Scouts. Avery Gleason and losing pitcher Mikayla Eckman each had a hit and RBI for the Falcons.

Boyertown 16, Governor Mifflin 0

The Bears mashed 11 hits in just three innings of work in a non-league contest against Governor Mifflin, with Ella Hurter leading the charge with a home run, double and four RBI. Samantha Sobeck went 2-for-3 with a triple and three RBI, and Kyra Neiswender went 1-for-2 with three runs scored at the plate while firing three scoreless innings and picking up the win in the pitching circle.

BASEBALL

Boyertown 14, Pottsgrove 4

Jonah Mayer tossed four scoreless innings, allowing just two hits while striking out 10 batters in Boyertown’s convincing PAC victory over Pottsgrove. At the plate for the Bears, Randy Wynings was 1-for-2 with four RBI, while Connor Moyer, Gavin Slaughter and Hayden Stezenko all knocked in two runs apiece. Boyertown took advantage of nine Pottsgrove walks and five errors.

Scott Ricky went 4-for-4 with a pair of doubles and three RBI out of the leadoff spot for the Falcons in the losing effort.

GIRLS LACROSSE

Boyertown 19, Perkiomen Valley 9

Hannah Adamski and Kamryn Pier scored five goals each in a 19-goal outburst for Boyertown in the PAC Liberty triumph. Alina Friz added four goals and seven assists for the Bears, with Peyton Shellaway also contributing a multi-goal effort with two. Jordyn Diffenderfer, Camryn Friz and Kristin Huffman also found the back of the net for Boyertown. Teagan Tyson made six saves in goal for Boyertown.

Pottsgrove 19, Pottstown 6

Hannah Kumpf and Vivian Kyler scored five goals apiece to help Pottsgrove take down Pottstown on Monday. Cece Hires had a big all-around game for the Falcons with four goals, three assists, seven groundballs and eight draw controls.

Josie Wyatt and Gianna Rytel added two goals apiece for Pottsgrove. Brynn McClune scored five Trojans goals.
