Roundup (Jan. 22): Owen J. Roberts boys’ basketball matches best win total since 2018-19 with rout of Boyertown

A dominant start from the Wildcats gave them a 20-point lead after the first quarter and Owen J. Roberts cruised to its eighth win of the year, its highest win total since 2018-19.

PAC leading scorer Luke Fryer scored 10 of his game-high 20 in the first while Danny Walker added 16. Colin King chipped in 11 for OJR (8-9).

Brant Rath was the Bears’ lone player in double digits with 12.

Abdul Jackson took over in the third quarter with 19 of his game-high 26 points and Pottstown surged to a PAC Frontier win over Upper Merion on Jan. 22.

Jurrell Young added 23 for Trojans (5-1, 7-2, 11-5) and Dillon Mayes scored 12, including nine in the fourth quarter.

Allen Cole’s 15 points led Upper Merion (2-4, 3-5, 6-8).

Four VIkings scored in double figures and Perk Valley stayed undefeated in PAC play with a Liberty Division win at Methacton. Leading the Vikings were Grace Galbavy (15), Quinn Boettinger (13), Julia Smith (10) and Grace Miley (10).

Perk Valley is 6-0 in the Liberty, 8-0 in the PAC and 16-1 overall, fresh off a 20-point win over Archbishop Carroll, the team that eliminated PV from last year’s PIAA tournament. Methacton is 2-3 in the Liberty and 2-14 overall.

Jessica Carroll scored 17 second-half points as part of her 22-point night and Pottsgrove powered past Pottstown on PAC Frontier play on Jan. 22. Carroll also had eight rebounds and five steals.

Mikayla Eckman had 11 points and 16 rebounds to aid the Falcons’ cause. Jayanna Hill led Pottstown with 10.
