Roundup (March 18): Pennridge gets the best of Boyertown in baseball, boys’ lax

Pennridge 8, Boyertown 2
Pennridge scored two runs in the second, fourth, sixth and seventh innings en route to an 8-2 non-league victory over Boyertown.
Tommy Ginetti had two hits and three RBI for the Rams (1-0), and the pitching trio of Ryder Olson, Connor Murray and Connor Smith combined to give up only one earned run in seven innings of work, striking out seven and walking one.
Gavin Slaughter had two hits for Boyertown (0-1) in the losing effort, while Connor Moyer had the lone Bears RBI and also pitched two innings of relief.
Boys’ lacrosse
Pennridge 15, Boyertown 7
After playing to a 5-5 first-half tie, Boyertown faltered after the break in a non-league game against Pennridge.
Brayden Kuhar and Jason Oakes had two-goal performances for Boyertown. Mason Barndt scored a goal to pair with three assists, and Hadyn Rogoff and Tyler Diffenderfer also found the back of the net for the Bears. Weston Loshnowsky chipped in an assist while Logan Oakes made 15 saves in goal.
Springfield-Delco 14, Spring-Ford 2
Brad Barber scored four times along with an assist, and Pat Flaherty (three goals), Connor Aughe (two goals) and Ty Gougler (two goals) also found the back of the net multiple times in a dominant non-league effort for Springfield-Delco.
The Cougars led 5-0 at halftime and cruised to victory despite second-half goals from Spring-Ford’s Max Stalder and Nick Valerio. Sean Hassis won 7 of 17 face-offs for the Rams and Dylan Cyr made eight saves in the losing effort.
Girls’ lacrosse
Wyomissing 14, Pottsgrove 2
Pottsgrove trailed 9-0 at halftime and ultimately fell 14-2 in a non-league contest against Wyomissing.
Emily Sorg scored both Falcons goals along with five draw controls, while Christine Hires and Gianna Rytel each picked up an assist in the losing effort. Jazlyn Harper made six saves in goal.
Ashley Baker scored seven goals for Wyomissing in a dominant offensive performance, and teammate Molly Macrina also impressed with four scores.
Boys’ tennis
Pottsgrove 5, Dock Mennonite Academy 2
Pottsgrove’s strong doubles play led the team to an early season non-league victory over Dock Mennonite. The No. 1 doubles team of Matt Walmsley and Nate Kratz won 6-3, 6-0, followed by Evyn Brogley and Kaiden Kelly (6-1, 6-0), Curran Antonio and Bryce Kemps (6-1, 6-2) and Paul Fabian and Ryan Stoy (6-2, 6-6 [7-2]).
Harry Grant also picked up a straight-sets 6-3, 6-1 win from the No. 2 singles spot for the Falcons.
Owen J. Roberts 5, Daniel Boone 2
The Wildcats nabbed a non-league win over Daniel Boone on Monday, securing victories from second and third singles, as well as the first, third and fourth doubles positions.
