Roundup (March 20): Kratz delivers for Methacton baseball in 5-4 win over Lansdale Catholic

BASEBALL

Methacton 5, Lansdale Catholic 4

Tommy Kratz led the way for the Warriors (2-0) with three hits, two runs scored and the victory on the mound. Kratz also scored the winning run in the bottom of the seventh on Tripp Shytle’s bases-loaded walkoff single. Shytle was 2-for-2 with two RBI.

Liam Greenberg with 2-for-3 with an RBI from the leadoff spot for Methacton, which had 10 hits.

Pope John Paul II 6, Cardinal O’Hara 4

A five-run fifth inning turned things for the Golden Panthers in a non-league win at Cardinal O’Hara on Wednesday. Luke Terlesky led off the decisive frame with a solo home run, Luca Dimaio and Tyler Tindall had RBI singles and Chase Frantz capped the scoring with his two-run double.

AJ Diadezzio also had an RBI double and pitched three innings of one-hit relief in support of winning pitcher Pat McNerney (0.2 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 1K).

Tulpehocken 11, Pottsgrove 5

Pottsgrove (1-1) lost on the road Wednesday thanks in large part to seven errors. Zayd Rogers (3 RBI) had a two-run single and Dylan Penot doubled for the Falcons. Rogers pitched two innings of relief and allowed one earned run on two hits, yet five Tulpy runs scored in his stint thanks to a string of errors. Luke Tyson and Brandon McGinley also had a hit and RBI.

Jared Baer had a double, triple and three RBI and Carson Snyder had four RBI for Tulpehocken.

Wilson 6, Boyertown 0

Matt Vanostenbridge and Christo Hunsicker combined on a two-hitter with 14 strikeouts for Wilson to blank Boyertown Wednesday.

Easton Albert and Connor Moyer had the Bears only hits. Devin Hoelzle took the loss, allowing four hits and three runs in three innings to go with six strikeouts and two walks.

 

SOFTBALL

Pottsgrove 9, Wyomissing 3

The Falcons came through with a 12-hit offense led by four players having multi-hit games against non-league Wyomissing on Wednesday.

Pitcher Mikayla Eckman was 3-for-4 (two doubles, RBI) and threw a complete game, allowing 3 runs on 11 hits with five strikeouts.

Avery Gleason was 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI while Bailey Pysher and Lizzie McAllister (RBI) each had a double as part of their two-hit games.

 

BOYS LACROSSE

Souderton 8, Boyertown 6

The Bears fell to non-league Souderton despite a four-goal showing from Mason Barndt. Other scorers for Boyertown were Brayden Kuhar (1G, 2A), Tyler Diffenderfer (1G) and Weston Loshnowsky (1A) while Logan Oakes made 8 saves.

Episcopal Academy 7, Hill School 5

Hill dropped a non-league meeting with EA on Tuesday. Blues goals came from Marcel Vernon (2), Leo Gillette, Hunter Falzon and Cliff Chapman while Liam Atkins made 13 saves in goal.

 

GIRLS LACROSSE

Daniel Boone 12, Pottsgrove 10

Pottsgrove got seven goals from Christine Hires but it wasn’t enough in a non-league loss to Daniel Boone. Other Falcon scorers were Emily Sorg (2) and Gianna Rytel.

Upper Merion 15, Dock Mennonite 3

Six Upper Merion had multiple goals in a non-league rout of Dock. Sam Walmsley had two goals and six assists, Olivia Smith had two goals and five assists, Mackenzie Davis and Elisa Dougherty had two goals and two assists each. Jess Reinhart (3) and Maura Besz (2) also had multi-goal games.

Council Rock South 14, Perkiomen Valley 4

The Vikings dropped a non-league meeting with CR South Wednesday. Leah Pfeiffer had a goal and assist, Julia Foley scored twice and Charlotte Foster made 10 saves for PV.
