The Mercury’s Sound Off for Saturday, Aug. 26

by for medianews group

Just got my latest electric bill. The good news is that I used less electricity than last year so far, and the bad news is that my electric bill is higher than last year. My electric bill is the same as my grocery bill, my gasoline cost, my property taxes, and every bill I have. I want to thank every Joe Biden voter for these higher bills.

Why do those who push for homeless and low-income housing never suggest it be built in their own neighborhoods? And why do those who advocate for more help for the homeless never contribute themselves?

If Donald Trump wins the next presidential election we all lose. If Trump loses, we all win.

Stay Tuned!

Can you believe the sorry state of the news media that refuses to cover any subject that is opposite of the gov’t narrative? No, it’s not just the vaccine killer story. It’s climate change, it’s real girls’ sports, it’s election irregularities, it’s gas stoves and generators, and it’s forcing the auto industry to produce unreliable and unaffordable EVs. It’s constantly hyping the good Democrats and the evil Republicans. Today, all journalists must obey!

Serious concerns arise about Biden’s dedication to his role as POTUS given his extensive vacation schedule. He appears to be a part-time president, spending a substantial 40% of his time in office on vacation. His work hours at the White House are limited, spanning from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. This arrangement raises questions about his commitment to the responsibilities of his office.

When I have to make a difficult decision in life I think “What would my grandfather do?” Then I leave the house in my underwear and shout at random strangers.

Bill Wilson

Is the Associated Press part of the Democrat Party organization or just making in-kind campaign donations? As David McCormick gets ready to announce his bid to replace the sleepwalking Bob Casey, Junior, the AP blatantly published an attack ad for Bobby Casey that The Mercury carried.

Ruth Mutter

Thirty years ago, Governor Casey initiated a program that funded pregnancy centers designed to provide pre- and post-natal care for those in need. With the stroke of a pen, a politically ambitious Shapiro ended that support. Like many in his party, he sees an opportunity to exploit the Dobbs decision. Noteworthy? His Gosnell-like advocacy of abortion for the viable, those reaching 20-25 weeks of gestation, has been overwhelmingly rejected by Americans as barbaric.

M. Furlong

Another indictment for the most inept.,corrupt president in history. The indictment filed in Georgia is for violating the RICO Act. This type of charge is usually used on gangsters and mobsters, not sleazy politicians. Trump should be proud. So to recap we now have four indictments, two impeachments, and one conviction of sexual assault. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, this is MAGA.

If we are now indicting politicians for contesting the outcome of their elections, I think Al Gore should be at the top of the list. Jailing this former VP and presidential candidate would have the additional benefit of curtailing Gore’s enormous carbon emissions.

M. Furlong: – Moderna study – Percentage of unvaccinated diagnosed with myocardial damage? Professor Potts – “… isn’t a single independent scientific study that proves human activities influence … climate.” Define “independent”. Funded by Exxon? Greg Levengood: National debt: (2016), $19,573T (2020), $27,748T = +42%; (2020), $27,748T (2022), $30,824T = +11%. Cholly: None have been arrested for saying elections are rigged, only for trying to overturn one. H. John: We “clearly see” allegations without proof.

Spot-on quote from Pa. Congresswoman: Attorney and U.S. Rep. Summer Lee (D-PA) says on social media, “If a new corruption scandal is coming to light about you every single day of the week that ends in the word ‘day’, you probably shouldn’t be a Supreme Court justice with a lifetime appointment that has no code of conduct. Looking at you Clarence Thomas.” Radical Republicans are corrupt through and through.

Emily L, I do enjoy reading your posts. I do believe they sometimes go past the reader like a Wiffle ball. The Oil thing was for comment after yours on that day. I should have written to whom I was directing it. What I smoke is prescribed. Night Light, unfortunately, our representatives will have their generous government pension to pay their tax burden.

The Moderate

It is crazy how much one person is so hated. The far-left Democratic Party has tried to ruin his life since day one. I don’t know how anyone could survive the onslaught of these attacks while it is so obvious what they are doing. My deepest hope is that people are seeing how corrupt this all is and support this man, while our President is on vacation again!

I was pleasantly surprised to see the Sound Off section was missing from the Sunday paper. No more inane comments by the same contributors week after week. Unfortunately, Sound Off reappeared with ill-informed opinions like “Just the facts!” wrongly ranting about “Biden pumping hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars into Proterra” when the Actual Facts are the Trump administration awarded Proterra a $10 million loan from the PPP in 2020.

Just the actual facts

In America, we use the Electoral College to determine the Presidential Election, not the popular vote. If we used the popular vote Hillary Clinton would have won in 2016, garnering 3 million more votes than Trump. Talking about Biden and basements, etc. is just repeating Trump’s trash talk and lies. Republicans in charge of 2020 elections in their own states who voted for Trump themselves and wanted him to win have debunked these lies.

Patriot45, I’m afraid you’re going to be disappointed with what history has to say about Donald Trump. Since the progressive media writes our history books, any semblance of the truth being written about this man is highly unlikely. Remember the despicable illustration of the ape morphing into a man in our history books? Progressives tried to indoctrinate us on the fallacy of evolution, and you can be certain that nothing has changed since then.

Greg Levengood

I think it’s important to plan for the future, but I also believe it’s important to focus on the step in front of us, not the whole staircase.
