The Mercury’s Sound Off for Saturday, July 6

The Mercury recently ran an article discussing problems with charging stations for EV cars. Folks are stealing the cables for the copper. And why wouldn’t they? Shoplifting is not being prosecuted and if store personnel stop a shoplifter they get fired. Do these DAs, judges, and politicians think the crooks don’t get it? They got the message — the most you will get is a slap on the wrist unless you trespass into the Capitol building.

Have you noticed that we have another Democrat preparing for the Presidency? Since Gov. Josh Shapiro is in office, it has been the Democrats’ way to buy votes. Give everything away or change everything to your advantage for those who want everything for free and their votes. Politics is at its worst with giving our tax money to buy votes whether we agree or not.

Some Electoral College math to think about: For every North Dakotan, you need 2.2718 Pennsylvanians for the same Electoral College representation. One Wyoming citizen equals 3.6178 Californians. One South Dakotan equals 2.635 Texans. One Alaskan equals 3.2438 Floridians. “One man, one vote.” is a joke.

One thing that all US Citizens should be in favor of is fair elections. Election integrity is vital to maintaining our freedom. Democrats and Republicans should unite behind Lara Trump’s promise from the Republican Party that they will pursue and prosecute voter fraud to the fullest extent of the law. And any illegal immigrant that votes in November’s election should be subject to deportation.

The Mercury frequently runs articles showing that speeding kills, yet Limerick township refuses to install speed bumps to slow down speeders on certain roads. With the new housing, someone is going to die.

I think Hippie and I would have gotten along really well. Too bad we lived a couple of centuries apart, but there are some modern-day Hippies around if you look hard enough.

President Biden’s $320 million temporary port in Gaza will be permanently dismantled months earlier than planned. The port can’t stay operational. Even on the few days it is working, most trucks distributing its aid are hijacked. It was another complete waste of taxpayer money.

With Roe v Wade overturned and comfortably in the rearview mirror, abortion justly resides within the state’s purview. Unfortunately for Democrats, they’ve lost one of their thematic rally cries that abortion is a constitutional right. Abortion is not a defining issue for 2024. It doesn’t even make the top 10 issues American voters are concerned about. Democrats don’t care about the economy, inflation, border security, and wars. But they sure like killing them babies!

Forty years ago Putin was torturing prisoners as a KGB agent If he did know Putin 40 years ago, maybe Joe was selling top secret documents that he was stealing from the Senate SCIF.

Bragg ran as DA to get Trump, before anything, Judge Merchan a large Biden donor with 12 Democrats on the jury! During Jury instructions, Merchan invents charges or advises the jury to come up with their own!

Just the facts!

Jocelyn Nungaray was killed by 2 Venezuelan illegal immigrants in Texas. Five illegal immigrants were arrested for kidnapping a teenage girl in Indiana. Yet Biden does nothing and says the “border is secure.” Next thing you know Joe Biden and the Democrats will be saying videos of the border crossings are “Cheap Fakes.” As a moderate, I don’t need to hear about more Americans being killed by illegal immigrants.

Is there a good reason to have Constitutional illiterates producing editorial cartoons? At least two-thirds of the Supreme Court got it right. The other third can’t even define female. When you make it known on Day 1 that fossil fuels are the enemy and open up your borders to the world, prices for everything will dramatically increase, and the security of your country will dramatically decrease. There’s no putting the genie back in the bottle, Ms. Rampell.
