The Mercury’s Sound Off for Saturday, March 30
Great to hear that Chester County has a triple-A bond rating. Now they can go out and refinance debt and spend, spend, spend. That is what politicians love to do. When I had loans, no matter the interest rate, all I wanted to do was pay off the loan. Not our politicians. They want to borrow more and brag about what a great loan rate they have.
Matt
Having installed Laura Trump (Don’s daughter-in-law) as RNC co-chair, completing Trump’s takeover of the RNC, the first big news: RNC donations will now be “prioritized” to pay Trump’s legal bills. Down-ballot GOP candidates will suffer. GOP donors — is this how you want your money spent?
LOL at the so-called “Moderate” again. The “Moderate” has no understanding of economics at all(I can do that too). Government spending by increasing the money supply and borrowing causes inflation, by making our money worthless. The CPI increased in 2024 and running at over 5% by now – that isn’t steadying, that is increasing. The “Moderate” likes Bidenomics talking points.
Jane the Real Moderate Batdorf
That Jay Miller is so clever … asking if we “are better off today than four years ago” when the stock market bottomed out at 19,173 on March 20 — which coincidentally was at the onset of the Wuhan Flu. Duh…? What he failed to mention is that the market was back up to 30,932, a resounding 61% on January 19, 2021 — the day Trump left office. Typical misleading information that Democrats feed their sheeple.
Greg Levengood
Did you hear over 200,000 deportation cases were dismissed after Biden’s DHS lost them? No, you wouldn’t because the MSM refuses to report this news. So now you can see how they plan to make all the illegals crossing our unsecured border legal… just lose the cases. Nothing surprises me anymore. It’s pretty sad how rotten the Biden administration has become.

Not asking you to change your beliefs or religion. Just asking for you to let others make their own decisions about their body, religion, who they love, how they see themselves, etc. It does not affect you. If you really believe it is wrong, let God judge them; you should only worry about how God judges you. (credit the Other 98%)

Hey Jay, Patriot54, and Lefty, How about this report again? You insist inflation is down. AP report — Inflation Headache for Small Business Owners. The Business optimism survey fell in Feb from 98 to 89.4 %. Prices are up 4% from Jan to Feb. Consumer prices are up 3.2 % from Jan. to Feb. excluding Food and essentials. Democrat leadership sure is working to control Inflation but when will it appear?
The Moderate is your typical radical progressive leftist and believes Capitalism is the root of all evil. Just like all the Marxists that came and failed before him/her. Dems be tripp’n!
Butch
Wow, dementia Don the con is really starting to lose it. All one needs to do is listen to 10 minutes of his campaign “speeches” to know he is not all there. Radical Republicans are blind to the dementia, showcasing their low-IQ voting patterns.
Patriot54
She’s back. An icon to the self-deluding, Christine Blasey Ford apparently decided that 15 minutes of fame were insufficient, particularly with a book to hawk. Some may recall that her sexual abuse allegations against Bret Kavanaugh, a teenager at the time, like those leveled by Anita Hill against Clarence Thomas, collapsed under scrutiny. Stronger political backbones would have explored perjury indictments in both cases.
M. Furlong
Michael Stern, Haiti has been a mess for decades and our government has done nothing. Trump failed at both domestic and foreign policy, welcoming Kim Jung Un. Delivering aid to Puerto Rico by shooting rolls of paper towels like basketballs and not thinking they were a part of the US.
The Moderate
I can’t believe MendaciousD is hating on Republican Barry Goldwater. True, Goldwater voted against the 1964 Civil Rights Act on Constitutional concerns, but he was a lifetime member of the NAACP who supported the Civil Rights Acts of 1957 and 1960 and the 24th Amendment (protecting voting rights). Goldwater was right about Vietnam, and his doctrine of Peace through Strength was championed by Ronald Reagan, whose efforts freed 100 million Eastern Europeans from Communism.
Robert Minninger
V.S. said, “I read on the internet…” Is that really where you get your information? Some fake news site like Breitbart or Newsmax makes up story after story to inspire radical right-wing violence like we saw at the Capitol on J6. Biden has no intention of arresting Don the Con. If he wanted to why doesn’t he do it now? Use your brain!
RealAmerica
Any commentary from The NY Times, Washington Post, CNN, or MSNBC is absolutely biased. They get caught lying for the Democrats daily. The cost of their subscriptions has gone up 500% in the last 10 years because they’ve been sued and fined so many times for spreading fake news. They’ve had to walk back so many Democrat lies that they now beep whenever they speak or write.
Willie S.
Satire: I’m automatically attracted to assets. I just start seizing them. It’s like a magnet, just seize. I don’t even wait. When you’re a state attorney general, they let you do it. You can do anything. Grab them by the airplane. You can do anything.
Jay Miller
Jane Batdorf, if you believe that Trump will bring down the price of eggs, gas, soda, juice, and everything else that you mention, as soon as he’s elected, you’re kidding yourself. But you can be sure that he’ll have some kind of phony excuse that blames someone else. He always does.
Greg Levengood, Michael Stern, Jim Fitch, Butch, and Robert Minninger are just writing one superb Sound Off after another. They are joined by so many other excellent Sound Off comments. They stand in stark contrast to the absurd rants of KC, Patriot54, Jay Miller, and others who send in looney outlandish claims about Trump.
Dan Fields
It is not a coincidence that Christine Blasey Ford has reappeared on TV. She just happened to show up when critical cases are in front of the Supreme Court. I hope Brett Kavanaugh realizes that Democrats and the country club elites in Washington, DC, will never like him, no matter how he rules on cases. In fact, I expect her libelous allegations will backfire big time.
Michael Stern
What do President Biden and a “Slinky” toy have in common? Neither one is very useful, but both put a smile on your face while going down the steps!
Jim Fitch
