The Mercury’s Sound Off for Sunday, Dec. 3
Some folks think that a 3.2% increase in their Social Security income is a lot. It is like spitting in the ocean compared to Joe Biden’s inflation. According to the SSA, the maximum benefit in 2023 at full retirement age is $3,627/month. The 2024 increase for someone with the maximum benefit is $26.78 a week. For me, my homeowner’s insurance increase would take 8 weeks of that increase alone.

Any doctor who still believes the COVID-19 vaccine narrative after all that has come out, is to be blunt — stupid. It’s hard to believe with tons of studies demonstrating the damage done to humanity by the Covid jabs, gov’t agencies are still pushing the vaccine as safe and effective. On both counts, they are dead wrong. I realize Covid is past for now, but your babies and kids are still at extreme risk.
The Truth Patrol
KC may be right that Biden made a ton of money on his book. It’s called money laundering, the same as his son selling overpriced paintings.
Biden’s age is not the problem, his mental capacity is. He is clueless.
PA Rep Paul Friel (D) and PA Senator Katie Muth (D) keep repeating the lie about parents wanting to ban books. Ask Friel and Muth this simple question: If the content of a book is too offensive to be published in the Pottstown Mercury or to be read aloud on local radio or TV stations, is it appropriate for this material to be in our public school libraries when it’s available elsewhere?
Robert Minninger
If they ever released Biden’s medical files he’d be forced to resign the same day because the doctors would confirm what everyone already knows: “Moderate to severe age-related dementia, confusion, stuttering, stumbling, embellishing memories, loss of thought processing, and diminished short term memory.” Many of us have relatives with dementia, mild to severe, and realize there is no chance of a cure. And certainly no second term.

Those of you who continually defend Donald Trump and pretend that life would be better with him as president have obviously not accepted his background and actual performance as president. Those things that you now blame on Pres. Biden may have been much worse under a second term of Trump. If you had listened to Trump explaining “non-COVID” daily as I did would recognize what a farce he was and is.
Give a man a fish. Just do it. Don’t ask questions.

Why is our country going stupid over so-called healthcare systems, if you call healthcare swallowing toxic chemicals and injecting venomous poisons into your body? For thousands of years, there was no such foolishness. People relied on food for their medicine, as it always has been. The temptation for enormous wealth overwhelmed the drug industry and like always “money rules.” I have watched all this evil happen just within my lifetime.
Med Tech
Simple choice. One loves his country and wants the best for its people. The other barely knows what country he’s in on any given day, can barely stand upright, and calls on people from the audience who have been dead for a couple of days. God Save The Queen.

“… life worse today than … 50 years ago ….” 1973: Inflation tripled (3.4% to 9.6%), worst recession since the 1930s, stagflation, OPEC oil embargo, Wall Street crash, automakers lay off 100,000, unemployment = 5.6%, Agnew resigns, Watergate. Really? There was good stuff too, just like today. Not worse, just different. It’s called life. (BTW, how many of those polled were alive or cognizant of life 50 years ago?) Seems everything today is Biden’s fault.
Trump inherited a military that has been purged of officers who did not toe a “progressive” line. That noted, he increased defense budgets constrained by sequestration, met recruitment targets, got more from our allies e.g. NATO, demanded accountability for a forever war in Afghanistan, had ISIS neutralized, kept China/Russia/Iran/N. Korea in a box and notably, did not position troops in new combat theaters. Columnist Will Wood’s apparent preferences? Identity-based promotions and a military in disarray.

To Robin Q. I hope you are aware that your very intelligent grandson will be the one paying high taxes in the future as a Democrat who thinks Republicans have trains instead of brains. Biden is showing him the way. As for the comment on D for Drive in another Sound Off comment, did you read that auto accidents are way up compared to years ago? Way to go D for Democrats. R for Restore the Government.
Thousands of hours of publicly available film footage from 1941-1945 show US troops eating meals, smoking, playing cards, and generally just sitting around waiting. This is proof-positive that, like the January 6 “insurrection,” the so-called World War II was not what the mainstream media claimed. Do your research.

Obviously, Joe Biden didn’t read the article yesterday about Elizabeth Warren and her coming to terms with the fact that Obamacare, also known as the Affordable Care Act, had a lot of unintended consequences. Including the fact that it wasn’t/isn’t affordable.
Righty Tighty
Joe Biden lies when he says his wife and daughter were killed by a drunk driver, but the driver was not only sober, he was not responsible for the accident. Unfortunately and sadly, Biden’s late wife swerved into the path of the other driver. Joe Biden is a serial liar.

Awww, looks like Missy Miss(es) is upset that radical Republicans lost another election cycle. Radical Republicans continue to lose when legal mail-in voting is used. Why do they not want more eligible voters to conveniently cast their ballots? Oh, that’s right, when more people vote, radical Republicans lose. Maybe if they had policies that appealed to the majority of voters, they could garner more votes. Bless your heart!

High gas, food, and mortgage rates have taken their toll. You may hate Trump, but by any measure, he built a better economy than Biden. Choose wisely, America.
Shadow
Hamas started a war and got thousands of innocent people killed. This is a fact. Hamas leaders knew Israel would strike back. Hate is the factor, it goes back thousands of years. Hate is taught and still is, even in America.
Star Light
Liz Cheney says in her book, that our Constitution cannot survive another four years of Trump! And if we care about the Constitution, we better think long and hard about how we vote. God save us from the thug.
Jay Miller
Rooster, the medical and mental report released by Trump was probably written by himself, like when he was in the White House. He just got the Doctor to sign it. He can write anything he wants to, nobody believes anything he says.
The earliest Presidential campaigns I can remember were in the late 1950s. I can still remember that the Democrat mantra back then was “The Republicans are going to take away your Social Security. That is still their base campaign slogan but with the addition of “They’re going to take away your Obamacare”. In case you haven’t noticed, the Democrats are liars, on this and just about every other issue.
Fact Jack
JB in Limerick. Too bad you’re so brainwashed by the left. Obamacare has doubled the cost of healthcare for the average worker and their family. Increasing 129% between 2013 and 2019. Please don’t take my word for it. Go to Heritage.org and read the Heritage Foundation’s factual review of your O’Bama care.
Still Amazed
Isn’t it ironic that the “food stamp program” under the Dept. of Agriculture is pleased to have distributed the greatest amount of food stamps in history? Meanwhile, the National Park Service, also under the Dept. of Agriculture, warns, “Please don’t feed the animals. The animals may grow dependent and not learn to care for themselves.”
