The Talisman Players in Kutztown present Oscar Wilde’s ‘The Importance of Being Earnest’

The Talisman Players, a community theater group based in Kutztown, presents Oscar Wilde’s classic play “The Importance of Being Earnest” at its new home in Kutztown.

“The Talisman Players have been invited to make the former church, and now, Barnabas Center at 234 E. Main St., our new home!” director Tom Nardone said in a statement.

“It is a charming, intimate space with great acoustics and to make the pew-seating a bit more enjoyable ran a campaign to supply pew cushions made by Wooden Bridge Dry Goods in  Kutztown,” said Nardone.

Performances of “The Importance of Being Earnest” will be held on March 21 and 22 at 7 p.m., March 23 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. and closes with a matinee performance on March 24 at 2 p.m.

“We have a most talented cast led by Eric Gertner as John Worthing, Matthew Lupacckino as Algernon and Christine Nardone Storch as Lady Bracknell,” said Nardone.

They are supported by Liz Weimar as Gwendolen and Charlotte Storch as Cecily. Dan Raudenbush portrays Rev. Chasuble with Ann Towne as Miss Prism.

Rounding out the cast is Lisa Grabowski as Lane and Des Reasoner as Merriman.

Sue Mangold and Rachel Moyer will also step in to portray Lady Bracknell and Gwendolen, respectively, for two performances, March 21 at 7 p.m. and for Saturday’s matinee at 2 p.m.

The Talisman Players community theatre group was established in Staten Island, N.Y., founded and directed by educator and consultant Tom Nardone who produced quality theater for more than 30 years, including children’s performances, high school productions and fundraising events. His daughter Christine Nardone Storch, a graduate and faculty member of Wagner College in Staten Island, served as musical director, drawing from her Broadway, off-Broadway, film and television experience. She later took over as director and formed her own theatre company, The Jr. Talisman Players.

Storch, along with her husband RC and their two children, Charlotte and Benjamin, moved to the Lehigh Valley in 2012 followed by Nardone and his, wife, Carol in December of 2013. The father-daughter duo established the Talisman Players in 2015, presenting “Fiddler on the Roof” in 2016.
