Wintry mix of snow, sleet, rain to bring icy roads to southeastern PA
A winter storm is moving through the area Wednesday night through Thursday, Feb. 6, 2025.
The National Weather Service Mount Holly office, which covers southeastern Pennsylvania and New Jersey, issued a winter weather weather advisory in effect from 11 p.m. Wednesday to 1 p.m. Thursday for Berks, Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Lehigh, Montgomery and Northampton counties. In New Jersey, it includes Mercer County, among others.
It said to expect snow likely beginning in southern areas before midnight, spreading northward after midnight.
Warming will cause the precipitation to change to sleet, then freezing rain the NWS forecasters predicted. An inch or less of snow is predicted, but 2/10 of an inch of ice could build up from freezing rain.
Lows Wednesday night are expected to be 28 degrees, with a high around 40 on Thursday.

AccuWeather is predicting snow for the Reading area between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. Thursday and ice as being possible from 11 p.m. to 9 a.m. Thursday. They also forecast a low of 28 degrees Wednesday night. A high of 43 is forecast for Thursday.
“Snow and sleet late this evening; sleet and freezing rain late; deteriorating road conditions; plan for a slow and slippery morning commute,” AccuWeather said.
Lows forecast by AccuWeather: 29 degrees in Lansdale, Norristown and Pottstown, 28 in West Chester and Trenton.
AccuWeather lists the advisory for portions of central, northern and southern New Jersey and southeast Pennsylvania.
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation and the PA Turnpike Commission have already issued travel restrictions on the interstates and major highways.
